Boho Chic Terrain Gardens Wedding | Marissa + Craig

Aesthetic: Boho Chic

Photography: Dearly Beloved Weddings

Marissa and Craig’s modern yet boho wedding at Terrain Gardens at Devon Yard was such a great venue to design for, for a few reasons.

When we did our initial consultation, Marissa was very clear on her vision of boho chic florals and decorative accents that would complement the mixed use space that is Terrain Gardens.

Having already been familiar with Terrain, we knew that the ceremony gardens where the couple would say their vows were adjacent to a fabulous nursery with existing installations and greenery that we would be tying into. (Side note: I think that is such a great option to have all of that atmosphere built in, and I vote for in-house nurseries at all of our wedding venues!)

With that in mind, I wanted to make sure that our version of boho chic included lots of greenery, so it wouldn’t look at odds with the lush space. It also let us capitalize on some of the best flowers that were in season locally!

Marissa and Craig’s May wedding happened to be in the height of the much sought after Peony season, so we were lucky enough to source some gorgeous white peonies to cover Terrain’s metal arch.

Orange Blossom also grows wildly at that time of year as well, so after much foraging, we had the two best ingredients for transforming the arch into our version of an ‘overgrown Garden’ work of art. I loved the fullness of the final product, and how the metal of the piece all but disappeared behind the greenery.

We also sourced some Anemone for Marissa’s bouquet, and the black center of those blooms gave such great contrast to the varying shades of cream and white.

The whole look was definitely elevated boho, which I feel was the most evident in the drop-dead gorgeous reception space that Terrain offers. The reclaimed wood walls, the natural skylight and the addition of tablescapes with candlesticks, bud vases, white flowers, greenery, and specialty votive candles provided an almost dreamlike landscape for their celebration.

Marissa even had a custom neon sign created for us to hang in the reception space, and it made for a great backdrop, serving as the focal point for the middle long guest table that was pointed right to it!

In just the right touch, sparklers and cafe lights were lit at the end of the night, and with the arch in the background, it was such a special glow to mark the end of a special day!

Big thank you to Marissa and Craig for letting us bring your garden vision to life!
