Aperol Spritz-Styled Library Wedding

Aesthetic: Fresh earthy neutrals with pops of happy color

There are very few weddings I can think of that have this level of eye-popping color, while being able to keep it organic and earth-toned.

Caroline and Jason’s wedding was such a fun and free-spirited day and they were a blast to plan with from the start! From the absolutely unforgettable shade of the groom’s suit, to the wildflower inspired arrangements, the tone was a riot of care-free happiness.

Starting with our consultation, the couple immediately described their color palette with food and drink comparisons, which is such a vivid and easy-to-grasp way to share your inspiration! Caroline and Jason shared that they were looking for floral arrangements with all the colors and shades found in pistachios (greens, beiges, whites, sage), and a pops of happy orange-red based on an Aperol Spritz (their to-be signature drink).  Add a little texture all over and we had a plan!

Another fun aspect of their planning stage was that because they were getting married at The Free Library, they wanted to see ideas for their guests’ tables that incorporated antique books. We love incorporating non-floral elements when it makes sense, so we were up for the challenge of finding just the right look with florals and fiction.

Caroline and Jason completely trusted us from the beginning to bring the entire vision to life by sourcing only local flowers and greens (... and books!) and we had so much fun with all of different elements and textures.

To that end, and in keeping with our commitment to sustainability, we rented a huge stockpile of antique books from the iconic Baldwin’s Book Barn in West Chester, PA to stack as the base for each centerpiece. It was such a unique experience to go through the volumes and choose the right pieces for these gorgeous and thoughtful arrangements.

When it came time for the big day, working with Amanda from Diamonds and Details always means that the entire process (especially including Wedding Week!) ran smoothly, and we were able to build Caroline and Jason a memorable collection of organic arrangements that created a living garden effect for their ceremony and reception.

We were thrilled to be able to use one of my favorite flowers from Hickory Grove Gardens, the lime/Pistachio Lisianthus, which looked especially perfect in their Arch and centerpieces.

All in all, Caroline and Jason’s wedding was an unforgettable experience, and we wish them the best of luck in their next chapter!
