Bright Cescaphe Wedding at Water Works

Aesthetic: Vibrant, Hot, Jewel tones

Photography: Salt and Sonder

Alani and John’s wedding at Water Works in Philadelphia was such a fun opportunity to play with colors that don’t typically fall in the average wedding color palette.

Our bride, Alani, really wanted her wedding day to be full of bold statement floral pieces. I could’ve guessed that when she told me that teal was the accent color of her reception!

When we had our consultation, we came up with plan to include rich color contrasts with plenty of transition colors. These included rich, darker greens, orange-to-reds, small fuschia-to-purple elements, and white contrasts to pop against dark teal.

We wanted the heat and moodiness of a vibrant jewel tone blend, all while making sure to avoid a too- tropical look.

Let me just tell you that the heat we were looking to evoke in our arrangements was totally on point because Alani and John’s wedding day also hit 98 degrees! In a little behind the scenes of floral artistry, when a wedding day is super hot, it’s a big juggling act keeping all of the arrangements cool enough that they look fresh for the wedding! But so worth it!

But, even though were busy keeping those blooms looking magical, the warmer month meant that the bride and groom’s wedding day fell perfectly in the middle of Peony season, which I lovingly included everywhere I could.

The Peonies elevated everything from Alani’s bouquet to the tall gorgeous centerpieces and the lovely altar arrangements, all courtesy of our local Pennsylvania flower farmers! If you were wondering if local blooms can be this vibrant, let this wedding be your sign.

An extra shout-out goes out to Alani, who let me exercise some artistic inspiration right before the big day. Just hours before the wedding, as we were busy creating the arrangements, inspiration struck

I texted her and asked “can we incorporate some citrus fruit in your designs?”, and then sent an example of what we were playing with in the studio. She was all in, and I was off grocery shopping!

I’m so thrilled with how everything turned out, and I couldn’t be more honored to create for this lovely couple!
