Delicate Garden-Party Audubon Center Wedding | Lydia + Tom
If you were ever wondering if Fall weddings HAD to have less vibrant or colorful local blooms because of the end of growing season drawing near, may I present to you exhibit A: Lydia and Tom’s spring-like Autumn wedding.
As we were designing their pieces in the studio, we kept repeating “this feels like Springtime in the Fall” - their palette and the ingredients (all local!) really did fulfill their vision for a gardenesque, delicate, and colorful wedding!
It likely helped that the Mill Grove Audubon Center has such a lush spring like feeling well into the late Fall, letting us capitalize on the gorgeous greenery and open fields. Watching the soft pastels from their wedding palette pop against all that green was so energizing to us as we built their wedding arch.
Even late in blooming season, we were treated to our favorite ingredients from our local flower partners. Flores Temporis had stunning Garden Roses, Riverside Blooms and Hickory Grove Gardens showed up with incredible Dahlias, and Hickory even provided some amazing Celosia. The colors and quality in the Fall is just another testament to how amazing our local flower growers are.
Adding to that magic was our designer, Megan, who lent her special touch to that arch that was such a showstopper. Check those Dinnerplate Dahlias! Yes, that’s what they’re called when they are that size, and I’m sure you can understand why! I’m always excited for flowers the size of your head.
The wedding party looked fantastic in darker colors that really made their personal flowers pop, and it was a gorgeous ceremony for Lydia and Tom.
The reception space at the Audubon is another one of our favorite things about that venue. New, versatile, and gorgeous, and paired with the smooth operation of working with the catering team at Jeffery A Miller, makes our set-up a dream. I loved the delicate woodsy centerpieces that the bride and groom decided on, and we just adore decorating that fireplace mantel. Check out that drippy green Amaranthus hanging down. Such a look.
Our team stayed after the ceremony to repurpose the florals from the arch to around the sweetheart table to finish the design, and the outcome was phenomenal. Designing for Lydia and Tom was such an privilege, and we are so honored to be a part of their wedding day!
