Tropical Tiki Inspired Kimmel Center Wedding
The opportunity to do unique florals is always something we at TWIG are excited to tackle to flex our imagination and creative skills!
Every once in awhile we have a bride that has a floral vision that goes beyond what the phenomenal local flower farms can grow, so we take to the global flower community to make our couple’s wishes come true.
In the case of Ashley and Joe, this took shape as a black-tie 50's tiki dinner party with vibrant tropical flowers and greenery. We envisioned gigantic tropical leaves and bright flowers to fill a large venue space and help bring their tropical theme to life. We found the perfect balance between “bright and hot” and “formal suit-and-tie event”.
We could not have asked for a better couple to work with in this endeavor than Ashley and Joe. They came equipped with some initial inspiration pictures and open minds. We greatly valued their trust with the planning and designing process - especially since their wedding had to make some last minute changes.
The couple’s wedding was originally scheduled for Winter 2022, but their first venue changed policies and was no longer going to host weddings even after they’d scheduled everything. Talk about a pivot.
Ashley and Joe remained so grateful and kind as they started over, and they made sure we could still accommodate their amazing vision when they moved the wedding to Summer 2022.
They eventually landed on the The Kimmel Center. Looking back now, it really feels like it was meant to be and ended up being perfect space for their transformational, tropical theme! (I mean, check out these pictures!)
When their big day finally came, we were so enamored with how everything turned out! Ashley’s bouquet was a huge statement piece with a full Monstera leaf in the back, tropical flowers all over, and a real airplant up front. She cried as soon as we delivered it to her!
We were especially thrilled with her joy because a few months before Ashley’s wedding, we saw a photographer post a video where all of the bridesmaids used their bouquets to frame the bride’s face for a colorful, impactful closeup of the bride. We posted it to our Instagram hoping that one of our 2022 brides would be up for recreating it, and Ashley replied right away to “volunteer as tribute!”
On her wedding day, she even remembered to ask her photographer and bridesmaids to create the shot and it is one of our favorite shots from the 2022 wedding season.
The whole experience was truly one of our dearest weddings from this year, and we were so honored to be chosen for their big day. Here’s to more memorable weddings to close out the year on a high note!
